As the central fund supporting scholarships, school arts programs, and local performing arts organizations, we are committed to safeguarding these essential programs for generations to come.

The performing arts are more than just entertainment—they are a cornerstone of education, culture, and community well-being. Yet, many students, educators, and arts organizations struggle with limited funding, making it difficult to keep the arts accessible and thriving.

The Maui Performing Arts Fund is here to change that—providing the critical financial support needed to keep these programs alive and ensure every student and every performing arts organization has the resources to succeed.

• Sponsoring hula, Hawaiian music, and storytelling programs in schools.

We believe that every child deserves the opportunity to explore and develop their talents in the performing arts. This scholarship program helps Maui-based students access quality education in theatre, dance, music, and cultural performance arts.

Who It’s For:

• Students ages 6-24 pursuing theatre, music, dance, or cultural performing arts.
• Must be enrolled or applying to a Maui-based performing arts program, school, or private training.

What It Covers:

• Tuition for performing arts classes, workshops, or summer intensives
• Private lessons (voice, acting, dance, instrumental)
• Travel expenses for arts-related competitions, auditions, or performances
• Required materials (dance shoes, costumes, instruments, scripts, etc.)

Eligibility:

• Must be a resident of Maui.
• Demonstrate financial need.
• Submit a statement of artistic goals and a letter of recommendation from a teacher or mentor.

• Notification - Scholarship applicants will be notified within 1-3 weeks.

We recognize that unexpected hardships can disrupt an artist’s ability to create and perform. This emergency fund provides urgent financial assistance to Maui-based artists facing economic challenges, health crises, or loss of work due to natural disasters (such as the Lahaina fires).

Who It’s For:

• Professional or emerging performing artists residing in Maui.
• Those experiencing financial hardship due to loss of work, medical emergencies, housing instability, or natural disasters (e.g., Lahaina fires).

What It Covers:

• Immediate financial relief for rent, utilities, or essential living expenses
• Medical bills or unexpected healthcare costs
• Expenses for urgent job-related opportunities
• Assistance for replacing lost or damaged artistic tools (instruments, costumes, props, etc.)

Eligibility:

• Must be a resident of Maui.
• Must show proof of financial hardship.
• Provide a brief statement on the impact of the emergency and how the grant will assist.
